ASSESSMENT OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Abstract

Social development means primarily qualitative rather than quantitative changes in the social life. The article discusses the multivariable approach to the assessment of social development of the Russian Federation. The authors compared methods based on the same calculation algorithm by using various combinations of initial indicators: expenditures on human capital development, public health index, average income, average income to subsistence minimum ratio, and geographic size index. The results were analyzed and compared with the values of Human Development Index, which is one of the most popular indexes used to assess the social development. Results of modeling of all social development index variants and the human development index were presented by a series of similar maps, so that the final conclusions depend only on the information support of modeling.
